NUL Political Union On 5th August 2019 Under: Others

The voice is from a generation that has been sold a broken dream of an inclusive Lesotho that will support and protect its aspirations. Whilst such words as idle, lost, demanding, self-entitled and unruly have been attached to the youth of this generation, the socio-economic conditions it has inherited are usually not considered when such evaluations are made. Corruption, greed, elitism, a poor economy and an education that has failed and rendered thousands of this youth unemployable are only a few marks of betrayal by those who have been entrusted with governance. The adverse effects thereof, are pervasively evident in the country with increased substance abuse, conditions of abject poverty, ever increasing crime, suicide and an alarmingly growing rate of depression amongst the youth.

Truly there is more work to be done and the youth of this generation has both the energy and capacity to assist. Rather than become passive recipients of the government’s largesse as it is growing popular opinion regarding this generation. They can become active participants in crafting their own future. To achieve this, the youth needs to participate in the political space in order to be able to influence a political direction that is both progressive and reliable.

Lets break the mold and join National University of Lesotho Political Union seminar on 22nd November 2019 at ISAS Auditorium at 1200hours.

Information on the moderator and discussants will follow.
