The programme includes two exciting clarinet quintets – The Brahms Clarinet Quintet in B Minor Op 115 is one of the greatest chamber music masterpieces ever composed, while Gumboots for Clarinet by American composer David Bruce is an abstract celebration of the rejuvenating power of dance – moving from introspection to celebration. With Annelize de Villiers (clarinet), Farida Bacharova (violin) David Bester (violin), Petrus Coetzee (viola) and David Pinoit (cello).
The 18th Greyton Genadendal Classics for All Festival takes place from 20 – 22 May. The line-up includes performances by the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra, the Trio Goede Hoop, Recuerdos de Espana featuring the Stellenbosch Guitar Quartet and critically acclaimed Flamenco dancer Che Adams, the Gqeberha Trio, the Arborescent Quintet and the award-winning Charl du Plessis Trio. A special concert for children will be performed by the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble. The highlight of the festival is the gala concert with Minette du Toit-Pearce, Janel Speelman and Janelle Visagie, accompanied by a string ensemble.
