The award-winning Charl du Plessis Trio, comprising pianist Charl du Plessis, bassist Werner Spies and drummer Peter Auret, returns to the Classics for All Festival with their latest creation, It Takes Three. The beautifully compiled programme is dynamically creative and fresh, and the music familiar yet completely new. It includes favourites such as Richard Wagner’s Pilgrim’s Chorus, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Mozart’s Lacrimosa from Requiem and Piazzolla’s Libertango.
The 18th Greyton Genadendal Classics for All Festival takes place from 20 – 22 May. The line-up includes performances by the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra, the Trio Goede Hoop, Recuerdos de Espana featuring the Stellenbosch Guitar Quartet and critically acclaimed Flamenco dancer Che Adams, the Gqeberha Trio, the Arborescent Quintet and the award-winning Charl du Plessis Trio. A special concert for children will be performed by the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensemble. The highlight of the festival is the gala concert with Minette du Toit-Pearce, Janel Speelman and Janelle Visagie, accompanied by a string ensemble.
